About Kat
My name is Kat and I am "Mama" to Rayn, "Love" to Aaron, "Pipsqueak" to my father, and "My Baby" to my mother. Rayn is excited to be a big brother in the coming months. Family is everything to me and keeping them as healthy as possible is of utmost importance.
I am a registered nurse, attending classes at Concordia University to complete my master's degree, with which I will practice as an integrative family nurse practitioner. I have worked as a nurse in neurosurgery and intensive care, but found myself unhappy in these environments. In the past few years, I have found my heart in home hospice and, most recently, working at an integrative practice seeing patients of all ages. I aspire to have my own practice someday, promoting wellness and seeing patients in their homes as well as my office.
I am also a certified childbirth educator, teaching the Birth Boot Camp curriculum. As a nurse, it was a no-brainer for me to choose this curriculum to teach. It is evidence-based, modern, promotes wellness, and gives couples the tools they need to make informed decisions.
In March of 2015, my love and I signed the lease for our shop, Lakeside Music & Naturals. The next day, we went into labor, three weeks early. Rayn has been working at the shop since day three of life. He can be seen toddling around, dancing, playing his ukulele, and banging on drums. Lakeside Music & Naturals is an eclectic shop, showcasing the things that mean most to Aaron and I, musical instruments and accessories, as well as all sorts of environmentally-friendly goods for babies and beyond. We host lots of fun at the shop, including my Birth Boot Camp classes, music lessons, the Holistic Mom's Network: Ozaukee County (of which I co-lead), and will soon be offering Music Together and Kidding Around Yoga.
